In September 2025, Brookside Cemetery became the first cemetery in Manitoba to offer natural burials certified by the Green Burial Society of Canada. This new section allows for people to return their bodies back to the earth in a natural state and supports the growing demand for green burial practices in the community. The natural burials section was planted with local grasses and wildflowers and will be left to naturally evolve over time, with little disturbance.
